With the DIY spear not only will you save money but you will become a part of a "Dream" Outdoors spear and it's easy! Making your own handle requires only some simple hand tools and a welder. Here's how.
The supplied weight is 1" in diameter. If you don't have a piece of pipe that will slide over it laying around you can go to your local Home Depot, electrical supply house or hardware and purchase a piece of 1" EMT conduit for less than $6.00. The weight will slide into it of which will then be welded. I'm sure you know someone that can weld for you although it might cost you a couple of fillets! Next cut it to a length that best fits you, drill a hole for your rope and your DONE!
Not only do you save on manufacturing costs but shipping charges and you have become a part of a family heirloom that you will be proud to hand down to the next generation.
